Alessandro Rocchi

This is an photographer who loves to document people in their everyday lives. I find it very interesting on what he chooses to take pictures of and it fascinates me.

You can tell that this photographer loves to find things that interest him that other people do in public and it inspires him to take a picture. If you go to his main site, you can scroll down the page and just see what fascinates him as he's taking the picture and I can really relate to that.

Alexandra Hager

This photographer by the name of Alexandra Hager does a lot of pretty editorial work of women for magazines and has a lot of conceptual photography in her pieces. I personally like how they have almost a dark feeling to them rather than being light and bright. There seems to be something more with her pieces than what other photographers do. Zhang Jingna

These pictures are from the photographer Zhang Jingna. They are from her book called "Something Beautiful" and I find them to be very pretty portraits. They are done very well and really catch my eye. Here the link to her website: http://beautiful.zemotion.net/
 

The Wade Brothers

I came across some very cool photographers known as the Wade Brothers. They do a whole wide variety of different kinds of photography and I find that to be really cool. These are some of the pictures that I enjoyed the most from them.

Martin Amis

I found a photographer by the name of Martin Amis. Their work is very interesting in the fact that they seem do a lot of shots of strangers in their everyday environment. I find that something very interesting since I had such a hard time getting any good pictures from the portrait assignment. They did a very good job at capturing the personality in those strangers and I really admire that. I'd recommend checking them out.

Jill Greenberg

I found this very interesting photographer by the name of Jill Greenburg. It appears that she does a lot of different kinds of photography and they are all very cool! I came across a series that she did in her conceptual portfolio where she did double exposures of people and nature and I personally like that the best. Here's some examples of that:

Mareen Fischinger

This photographer is very interesting to me for many reasons. She takes absolutely amazing pictures and comes up with many different concepts. One of the ones that is so freaky to me (because of how believable the two models are) is her series called "Barbie and Ken". She does a lot of other series as well, such as places. There is one called "European Memories" that really grabs my attention because I've always wanted to travel to Europe and these pictures really seem to capture what I've always imagined it being like. Kait Robinson

While searching for cool photographers I came across one by the name of Kait Robinson. She does a lot of editorial pictures but they are of really neat people i.e. such as women with pastel colored hair, or with really cool make up on. She does a really great job of taking those pictures and the lighting that she uses in her pictures are really great and add more the the mood of it all. Mike Walsen

I found a photographer by the name of Mike Walsen. He had some very interesting photos, but I personally believe that his series called "Lines" is the best of his work. I like the concept and idea behind it the most out of all of his works, so I would suggest that one. His other pieces are alright as well, but just not as strong in my opinion. Florian Ritter

There was another cool photographer by the name of Florian Ritter who took some really cool pictures of different things. One of my favorites is a project called "China's Wonders" and shows the world of China today is a beautiful way. The link to that is here: http://www.pflock.com/chinas-wonder/

Another cool project that Ritter does is called "Island Mon- Denmark". It shows a place on the beach and the colors in this one are great as well. Henrik Knudsen

While searching for more photographers I came across a really cool one by the name of Henrik Knudsen. I decided to take a look at his website and found a really cool little series called "Meet me in the morning" which shows photographer right as or before the sun rises. The colors  that are in these pieces are really neat and I love the idea behind it.

He has another project that he has called "The North Country" which has a lot of winter and snow scenes in it. There are several pictures that he has that are portraits of people inside of a car and those are probably my favorite in this project of his. Kalle Gustafsson

I found another very interesting photographer by the name of Kalle Gustafsson. She does a lot of editorial work and portraits, which I find to be interesting, but it's not something that I would want to do. Her pictures are very well done and I love how they look as though they are taken in the 50s and 60s.

SCC Art Show

While walking around the art show, I saw some very interesting pieces of art in there. All of the pieces were very impressive but the one that stood out the most to me was a piece called Blue Emergence by Aiko Brown. I really liked this piece a lot because first of all my favorite color is blue so it immediately caught my eyes, and two, I love printmaking and that was very cool to see some of that kind of art in the art show. It was a monotype, which is a process I've never really done before, so it made me more curious about the piece and how they might have made it.

There was another piece there that I liked a lot and it was called Oswald Cobblepot by Anna Doesick. I really liked this piece a lot because I'm very interested in illustration and hope to take that class some day. I love that way the she developed her character and the lines and colors she used in the piece is very interesting to me too. It really makes me wonder who her character really is and what he might be like in a story.

There were a few pieces in the show that I was not very found of, but I don't remember the names or the titles of them. I remember there was one in print making that I thought wasn't the greatest and that they could have done something better with it, but at the same time I considered that it might have been the first time they tried that process of printmaking before.

Over all, the SCC Art Show was very cool to look at and there were many other pieces of work that were amazing in the show and I'd recommend checking it out!

Bagrad Badalian Photography

 This photographer is very interesting to me. Instead of having a solid image frozen in time, most of his works shows his subjects in motion, with some very interesting movements with that. The bodies of people are very contorted almost to the point of not being able to recognize them at times. He uses amazing light techniques as well as some very interesting concepts. I'd recommend checking him out.

Eldo Kawa

I found this very interesting photographer by the name of Eldo Kawa who does some very interesting shots on a whole verity of things. He does both commercial work and personal work and both are fascinating and intriguing to view. I personally like his Hawaii landscape series and his women of nature series. The Rolling Exhibition: A Snapshot of Curiosity by Kevin Connolly

So tonight I went to The Rolling Exhibition: A Snapshot of Curiosity by Kevin Connolly. At first I was a little skeptical to see his show but once he started playing his slide show I found it to be really interesting. I've always been interested in worms eye views so that really grabbed my attention and drew me in immediately. He had such a really cool life story as well and it was really neat to hear him talk about how he lives his life that way. He was a really funny and talented guy and I totally think that he's worth a look. His work is so interesting that I can't wait to see if he does another series like this again and what other works of photography he will do in the future.

Erik Johansson

While searching the internet, I came across a very interesting photographer by the name of Erik Johansson who takes photographs, but then photoshops them to create surreal and unbelievable images.

Stan's Seven Deadly Questions

What is your personal definition of photography? My personal definition of photography is simply what inspires you to take a picture. It's what you see that makes your heart burn with passion. It's what drives you to record and capture what you want to because it's precious to you or maybe to someone else. It's a way to express yourself that no one else can copy because it comes from you and it is a part of you. 

What is the difference between a snapshot & a photograph? A snapshot is what someone wants to record quickly so that they can continue in the moment. A photograph is the result of a photographer seeing the world in a new way and taking the time to show it to others through photography. 

What is a cliché? Name 20. A cliché is something that you see over and over again; something that has been over done hundreds of times; something lacking some creativity. Sunsets, babie feet, selfies, kittens, puppies, eyes, making symbols out of hands, food, coffee, fingernails, posed photos, lips, beaches, cityscapes, flowers, outfits, shoes, clouds, trees, and hair.

What is the most important thing in your life? My friends, family and people who inspire me are the most important things in my life. 

What is your greatest strength/weakness? My greatest strength would have to be my artistic abilities and having an open mind. My greatest weakness is being very hesitant and not being able to make a decision right away. 

What is your greatest strength/weakness as a photographer? I think my greatest stength is taking an object and taking close up pictures of it. My greatest weakness is taking a proper portrait and making it look good.

Where would you like to be as a photographer? I would love to be a professional photographer whether it be taking pictures for a music magazine or taking pictures of nature and selling them. 

What is keeping you from getting there? I think its because I still have a lot to learn about taking pictures and making them unique. 

If I could make a set of photographs, they would... reflect me as much as possible and express my inner most thoughts and feelings.
